A new Muslim marriage app has been launched by two Oxford graduates.

‘Veil’ is aimed at students and working professionals with a distinctive interface, allowing them to mingle with potential prospects.

Whilst existing marriage apps offer swipe features and photo-based browsing, Veil says it provides a site that allows users to browse and match with other members without considering initial appearance.

It blurs the picture of the verified member and highlights the user’s personality as the focal attraction, compelling the users to engage in conversation.

Once there is a mutual match, the complete profile image is finally revealed of both users.

The app, which is free, is currently targeting core audiences in the UK and Gulf/UAE market.

Veil also provides a number of features that assist members to search, browse and select profiles they find interesting including the Veil boost. This feature allows members to post their ‘like’ directly on a user’s profile rather than relying upon the app’s matching algorithm.

The app has an immediate push notification system that quickly alerts users if they receive a match.

Verified members can chat with other users on the safe and secure messaging platform.

The founders of Veil said, “Our aim was to develop a unique app that would give Muslim students and working professionals the chance to find a partner in a safe and secure platform.

“Veil offers distinctive features to pursue Muslim matchmaking.

“We don’t think a Tinder style swipe function to find a long-term partner is the solution for a religion based on modesty- it all becomes too superficial as every member is swiping away purely based on someone’s appearance.

“We really hope this will revolutionise Muslim matchmaking by adding some fun tech combined with serious matchmaking Inshallah.”

Veil will be released on IOS shortly after Ramadan.
